kev.

yes mate, there are a few reasons but mainly my son (7)is bird mad, everytime i go in the shed he is there behind me, the thing is, he is chronic asthmatic and is suffering with beathing.

weather the thing with my son is to blame but honestly, if he was ok i would still be thinking of it, i go into the shed some mornings and think, there is no buzz,i dont get that rush anymore.

as i said, ALL my birds are already sold and could have sold them twice over....

Steve,

sorry to hear you are packing up mate, it's a real shame.

Joe,

Can't believe how successful a year Kevins had, it's bloody marvelous in his sheds, birds every where.

I tok some photos of that blue (really nice bird) but the photos don't do it justice, in fact they are crap (blame the photographer). It needs a photo taking with a right good camera to do the bird any justice at all.

Upto 9 Lizards at the moment (nest of three now a nest of one, two chucked out the nest, bloody typical)

five nests still to go, lets hope i get into double figures.

Hi, Kevin,

I'm hoping to start Lizards in the autumn, but I bred Borders during the '80s and I remember that dominant white to dominant white was said to produce a lethal genetic combination in a certain portion of the offspring. Are blue Lizards of white ground colour? I also remember that this claim was disputed in some quarters, but that a number of breeders still maintained that they suffered higher rates of dead in shell and chick mortality in the first few days after hatching.

Anyone know if this applies to Lizards too?

Sean

hi sean, i have heard that, but as no chicks hatched im not sure.that is one of the reasons i left that pairing to the end, as i wanted to have some blues on the sticks to give me a few for next years breeding program, but thanks for your input. tata

Well, I am done for this breeding season and have arrived @ the grand total of 21, Have to be pleased with this after a very shaky start.
Just have my last few weaning off and then hopefully get them all through the moult.
Gonna need all 21 to have a chance against Kevin,s 55, Dave,s 50 odd and all those others out there who have had a good year.
Heard Stan,s bred over 60 or more, looking forward to the first show East Anglia.
Good luck to all through the moult

Joe,

Pleased to hear you broke the twenty barrier, not so sure I will.

Can you beleive it, that hen that did well last year, 1 hatched yesterday, dead this morning, another this morning, already dead and one egg left. Not a sausage from her this year, I will try again next year with her

Had a nest of 3 eggs (due off tomorrow) hatch 1 today, this leaves me 1 more nest which is due on the 5th, that will be me done.

Currently tally is:

14 Lizard (1 nest left)
10 Stafford (2 nests left)
2 Japenese Hoso.

Still you only need one good un.

might even venture down to East Anglia myself this year (if they moult through OK)

How did you go with Dimorphics??

Hi everyone
Yes the breeding season is over for me too now, due to lack of space more than anything else. Well pleased though having got 26 birds out of 6 pairs, the best of which is a gold non-cap, my first non-cap.
Once they are fully colour fed and i've made my selection for shows and next years breeding season I will sell the excess and go back down to 6 pairs.
Wishing you all the very best.

Hi Darren

Good luck with your remaining nest,s, hope all goe,s well.
Bred 15 red agate mosaic pastels, (Not dimorphics) which is pleasing as I know have the type of stud size I require, Put a few IOA rings on them and 3 Lizards.
If they are any good I may have a bash @ this years world show, see if Paul can take them for me.
Yes, see if you can get to the East Anglian, Its a great show and the people are most welcoming, every one has a good old chin wag as they have,nt seen each other all year.
Its also a good pointer to see if the birds are really any good that you have bred aswell, Last year Rob Bunting told me my birds were,nt that good, :o  .
I then went on to change a few things and had a good show season.

Joe,

Been back in the bird room this afternoon, my nest of 1 is now a nest of 3, as it stands i have 16 Lizard, but it aint over yet. To be honest it is, if I can raise the 16 I'll be happy, no point not being really.

hope to see you all soon, now entering the worst part of the season, nothing but feathers everywhere, still not long now until October.

Clive - pleased youv'e done alright mate, hope to see you at a few shows this season
