2009 Show season

Postby Darren on Mon Jan 05, 2009 8:21 pm

With the 2008 show season drawing to a close we can now look forward to 9 - 10 months locked away in the birdroom.

I know it may seem a bit early but the 2009 season is only around the corner.

Does anyway (Dave Allen) know what the LCA will be doing patronage wise next season or even the dates of shows such as:

LCA Classic
Southern LCA
East Anglian LCA
South Bucks
Bird Show of the Year
All Variety Canary Show
Scottish LCA

ETC, ETC

With approx 120 members if a quarter of all members attended each show and took just 6 birds each (easily doable) then there would be 180 Lizards at each venue. I know that the Classic beats this and the Southern are somewhere near so it's not that big a feat to achieve. I am certainly gonna try and do my bit next season and attend most of these shows, it's only seven at the end of the day spread over 3 - 4 months (12 - 16 weeks) so if we all try we can go on to achieve. With a fiver on offer as prize money who could refuse, big bucks to be had.

sorry if I seem to be stood on my soapbox, tell me to shut the F**k up but you can't knock a trier can you.

Regards

Darren

No mate you can't and I do believe God loves a trier .

I only wish more people thought as you do Darren , but of course the trouble is as the show season is so short a lot of shows are on top of each other and people tend to stick to thier own 'rota' . Thats why I couldn't go to East Anglia because they moved from Sunday to Saturday and I'm comitted to my home CBS on that day .

Bird Show of the Year , I'd like to but to early and a mission of a journey.
East Anglian , yes if back on Sunday although a mission of a journey stuck behind a tractor all the way to Kings Lynn. 'Ah ya got a light boy?'
LCA Classic , its in the rules you have to attend :D
Southern Lizard , see above.
South Bucks , a new one in my diary and now a definate , I can show everything I breed here and its great to see all the different varieties.
(Make sure you take a flask ---no tea or coffee till 10o'clock  )
Scottish -----so long as the tractor driver from East Anglia isn't going I'd consider this one.
AVCS --see the Classic.

You stay on your soapbox mate , we need more like you.

Regards Paul.

What Show season

Postby dtalizard stud on Fri Jan 09, 2009 6:15 pm

Well I must say 2008 was my best ever show season. winning the LCA Classic was a dream come true. But it started when I won best Canary in Show for the frist time at Thame show. Then I came runner-up to Stan Bolton at East Anglia LCA show. the following week I turned the table on
him and won the classic. but what was more pleasing is I also took 4th Best Lizard at the Classic as well.
But I think the 2008 show season top Lizard exhibitor has to go to Stan Bolton he has won all but the classic this year well done Stan. But can you us a chance in 2009.
Stan spoke to me at all Variety show and said he still has the same enjoyment in getting his birds ready in 2009 as he did in 1966 when he first started with Lizards. Thats the sort of Lizard breeders he is.
If 2009 is half as good show wise a 2008 I for one will be very pleased.
regards david.

I don't think anything could top winning the Classic ---its every Lizard breeders dream Dave , even Jules Ettione , World Champion , wants the Classic . He may be back this year to have another go.

With Stan , thats the second year he's won the lot but found one better at the Classic, but I don't think anyone would begrudge him a win at the Classic . As I said before finsihing second to Stan is as good as winning.

I really enjoyed this year , it was good to see Dave rewraded for all the work he does for the Lizard (God works in mysterious ways and all that ) meeting some of the new guys like Darren , and seeing my mate Steve's smile when he got Best Novice at the SLCC was priceless.

So roll on 2009 .

Dave,s hard work and enthusiasm for the Lizard is fanatastic, winning the Classic was his just reward.

Steve winning the Southern was a great achievment after all the problems he was experiencing early on in the year,Very pleased for him.

Stan,s achievment where do you start.

But Paul, give your self a big pat on the back for all your hard work bringing us all closer together,Forum moderator, carophyll, ring steward, hive of information,1st to step up to the plate and general alround Gent,

LCA classic

Postby dtalizard stud on Thu Mar 12, 2009 9:35 pm

I was just taking a look back through my records and believe it or not Stan Bolton has won the classic in the last 5 six years a least.
2008 David Allen 2007 Dave Ross 2006 J & A Goacher 2005 John Record
2004 J & A Goacher. not sure after that so it is one that he still hasn't managed to win in the recent times, which is quite amazing considering his record in all the other major shows. Maybe 2009 will be Stan's year for the classic, but won't I love to win it back to back. I believe that has never been done either.
the real dave allen.

sorry dave but its my turn this yr
doupt i will be exhibiting at the classic in 2010 as i intend to not colour feed my birds and send a team to france (world show 2011).
i know stan and bob are thinking the same although stan im sure will colour feed some as he has a big enough shed to seperate them.
i personally would like to see a non colour fed cock and hen class at all shows....would be interesting im sure
