Kimberley Cage Bird Society

Postby Darren on Sat May 24, 2008 11:19 am

I joined Kimberley CBS this week, of the 8 members present at the meeting five of us kept Lizards. They are looking to increase membership to this club and are are hoping to get a lizard panel judge for their open show in October.

with the decline of a lot of local cage bird society's this could be a chance to increase membership & Lizard entry's to this society in order to guarantee a good turn out of Lizards on a regular basis.

Kimberley CBS is located 1 mile off the M1 @ junction 26 (not so far from the classic)

St Patrick's Church Hall
Back Lane, Off Watnall road
Nuthall
Nottingham

are there many Lizard breeders in the East Midlands (or further afield) who would like to see a good turnout @ a CBS as well as at the major shows?

does anyone know of any other CBS which has a good Lizard section and is looking to increase?

Regards

Darren

Hi Darren ,
Thats good news for sure , what is the date of their show?

The Southern boys normally ensure a good turn out at Wealden Bird Club and we've had upward of 70 Lizards there in the past but I fear this will not be the case this year as its the day before the East Anglia show and most of us are committed to supporting East Anglia as its their 30th Anniversary show.

I know we should all support our local CBS's and I will if I can but it is dissapointing to get your birds in tip top shape and then have them judged by a Gloster man who is going to put up a Gloster anyway but if a CBS gets a Lizard Judge then its a different matter .

You are in a 'hot-bed' area for Lizards and should get some good competition and its great that your CBS has so many Lizard men in it and well done you for swelling their ranks -----if the date fits in a few of us may be tempted to support the show.

Regards Paul.

We'll see about that one ---it does clash with a Colour Canary Young Stock show I normally go to but seeing as I have hardly bred any colours this year who knows?

Kev the Hosos will go out to a few cbs shows but are mainly aimed at the All Variety and The World Show.

Open show is next Saturday (11th October) and is being judged by Barry Faulkner

Members show later in the year is being judged by the real Dave Allen

Just got back from my first show and have had a right day out. Over 280 birds exhibited in the following classifications:

Fife
Borders
Glosters
Lizards (40 birds)
New Colour
British / hybrids

didn't pay to much attention to who won what in the other sections but Lizard classes were as follows.

Champion Novice

(1) A. Hallam Clear or nearly clear cap gold cock

(1) A. Hallam Clear or nearly clear cap silver cock
(2) K. Skinner
(3) K.Skinner

(1) Herod & Slater Broken cap gold cock Wardle & Lowe
(2) Herod & slater
(3) K. Skinner

(3) Herod & Slater

(1) Herod & Hen Gold Hen B. Boulton
Wardle & Lowe

(1) Herod & Slater silver Hen Wardle & Lowe
(2) K Skinner Wardle & Lowe
(3) A. Hallam B. Boulton

(1) K Skinner non or n non G or S cock/hen B Boulton

not a bad turnout for a small CBS, Dave Allen is judging the members show on November 11th (i think)

come on chaps lets break 100 birds and show the other sections just what we are made of.
