on the london natural history muesem sight there is a picture of a stuffed canary believed to be the last of the original london fancy,it looks to me like a grizzled lizard canary,can any one verify this fact?maybe the london was a grizzled lizard,this would account for its clear plumage after the first moult.

have you got a link mate as i have tried finding it but no joy.....

regarding the london fancy,there are a couple of schools of thought here.

1 ...that it didnt really exist as such.
2....that it was a sub species of lizard,acheived by breeding over capped birds together thus stretching the cap all the way down the back....

i am in 2 minds myself,one person i respect a lot says he can remember his father having"london fancy" and another man i respect a lot says he believes they didnt exist....

you decide.... :lol: :lol:
