steve
i told you on phone yesterday that its safer to set a number of clutches together if you can.
some hens will miss a day laying then lay 1..2 or 3 more.
now you could have chicks in a nest 2 or 3 days older than another.
you can store eggs in a eggbox for a week without harm...as long as the hen is on dummies she will stay broody.....iv had hens sit for 17 days without deserting....in the wild birds lay and leave the eggs till the full clutch is laid then incubate them......

andy.

the two hens that i have set are the only two with eggs mate.

the hen that was sitting clears i took her nest away and the hen that only laid 2 eggs i removed her nest too and put her eggs under the hen that only laid 3 eggs.

hens 2 and 3 havent laid since wednesday, that is why i put the eggs under one hen.

the beter hen of the two i will run a cock with in a weeks time.

Of to a flyer this year eh Steve? There'll be no stopping you now.

Reports comimg in are suggesting that we are in for a better year this year numbers wise .

Now last year the demand for Lizards outstripped supply so they fetched sensible prices , this year it looks as if breeders will have a good year but what with the recession I'm wondering if the demand will be as high -----I suppose thats the wonder of bird breeding , no two years are the same!

Regards Paul.

dont know about a resession paul...lol

i wont breed enough to fill my orders this yr and im sure a lot will go abroard this yr to.
its the same with the dogs...no money here but the foreigners want them and will pay cos of the £/E thing.

quality will always sell and i personally think that the lizard is one of the fastest growing sucess stories of the decade and gaining momentum............just wish all who kept them exhibited them :?

Iagree with Andy I will not breed enough Lizards to supply everyone who has contacted me. If I sold all what i hope to breed, i still would be along way short. i had one person phone up and ask for 10 yes thats right 10 pairs of Lizards. that was before I told him a price. when i told him the price he was amazed how little I was asking.
I Have just had my first nest hatch today, so fingers crossed for a good season.
regards David.
