your ok, thanks Steve,

I am going with this bird I had from you and trying to bring my other gold cock bird that was poorly back in to condition.

He,s getting there.

If I breed a few I would be pleased,Last year I bred 18 but actually only had 6 that I showed and 2 of those I showed all show season and they did well.

Glad your doing ok with the breeding, there is still time for me hope fully.

Regards Joe

hi jo
im by no means an expert but i do have a thought.
if you have a flight or flight cage put all your hens in it.....make a bath available every morning and give as much dandilion as you can get...roots and all.
plenty of condition seed and soak seed with a bit of eggfood every other day.
put the cock the other end of the shed
give it a week and then put a bit of stringy net material in the flight and id bet the hens start to carry. as they do put in cage with nest pan cock other side and after a few hours id say she will mate.
tis a strange yr
hen 1 ..2 rounds 9 chicks,,,,,,,hen 2 about to build nest 1st round,,,,hen 3 built nest about to lay 1st round,,,,,hen 4 ..3 nests no eggs....hen 5 2 soft shelled eggs 1st round..now laying 2nd round,,,,,hen 6 about to hatch 2nd round,,,,hen7 3 chicks 2nd round,,,,hen 8 nothing at all

Hi Andy.

Thanks, I did that same thing last week. 2 weeks know, all hens in to 1 flight cage and cock away from hens. Dandelion, condition seed, egg food, Great minds think alike

Going to put the hens separate this weekend and have another bash, Down to 1 cock bird. So its going to be fun

Steve,

any of these off the two pairs you had off me? i hope so.

At the moment i only have 3 which are nearly weaned. I have just built a flight in the birdroom in preparation for the outside flight going up in the next month or so. Mine will be going into this flight with access to a flight outside about 8ft x 10ft, should be fighting fit come the show season.

regards

your correct to say that your youngsters will be fit come show season darren but none will be on the show bench........you got to cage singly or the lost feathers will show

how true Andy

Postby dtalizard stud on Mon May 04, 2009 9:15 am

How true you are Andy if you don't single the birds darren you will not doutbly lose feathers. and you can always bet it the one you really fancy to do well, i know becaues it has happened to me. Nest mate to my classic winner another clear cap silver cock lost two flight feathers and was never shown at tall last year but is probabley as good as it brother if not better. got them both down with 4 egg due off soon. they are both paired to half sisters. which I think will be a good pairing one is paired to my runner-up to ~Stan at East Anglia.
I am working on a way for my birds to get sunlight but still be kept singley. regards david.

Steve,

I think the guys are refering to my mail about putting all my young in an outside flight to get them fit, not to your photo.

I might just stick Stafford in the outside flight then, if i breed any.

regards

All wire cages are the answer ----each bird housed seperately in an outdoor flight . Black legs , black beak and plummage in tact.
