Hi.
My name is Tico. I am currently living in Portugal and have been keeping canaries over here for last 4 years. Mostly coloured canaries but also some Lizards. I have not competed with my Lizards, has felt that they were not up to standard. Have recently aquired new stock from Italy and a few friends from here and would appreciate any coments you have on them. There are a few pictures on my blog. Any coments would be appreciated. Good or bad. thanks.

The blog is in Portuguese but can use google translater. Not brilliant but will do.

Hello Tico and welcome to our little online community.

It is always difficult to tell from photographs but the birds depicted on your blog could do with improvement in the spangle although the Silvers appear to be better than the Golds.

I also note you have some Blues , I know there are many on the Continent but here in the UK we do not recognise them and what ever you do can I urge you not to cross them into your other stock as they will damage the ground colour .

Regards Paul.

Hi Tico welcome to our forum. i agree with what Paul said about the Blue's.
Your Gold do seem better that your silvers and seem to have a good ground colour do you colour feed your Lizards?
Maybe we will see your Lizards at the world show next year when it is in your home country!

Thanks for your comments. If they are good enough I hope to take them. As it's here next year. I will be doing about 10 pairs, so hopefully something will come out worth showing. There is a big show here in November. just Lizards, so I will try that first and see.
I was reading elsewhere on the forum about showing on the continent and you should. There are alot of good Lizards over here and it would be good to compare with yours. If any of you do make over here, let me know and I would be interested in obtaining some of your birds.
As for the Blues, don't worry. Not my intention to mix them. I just got them from the World Championships in Italy. And going to try them out. But no mixing. Thanks for your coments, always welcome.

If you need any clarification on shows and clubs and associations and COM, let me know, I may be able to help, on the workings and how they work over here. Tks. Tico

I shall definately be there Tico as I'm the Vice President of the IOA COM GB , Raul Leitão and Mario (President of the Arelquim Association) have already invited me.

Any info you have on Lizard shows in your country would be appreciated as it may give us the opportunity to convey some birds over and have a 'dry run' for the World Show .

Well thats if we breed any good ones :D

Regards Paul.

Hi.

I got them via a friend who went to the World Championships and I paid 50 Euros each. Seems to be 2 females and 1 male. Here in Portugal you can get them from 25 - 35 Euros.
Thats the asking price for golds and silvers as well. Got a very nice pair at the Portuguese championships, a male winner in team and a female third in team. 35 Euros each.
What at the prices in UK. .....

hi tico
thanks for the information on the price of the lizards in europe.

with the exchange rate as it is at the moment ie £1= 1 euro ..roughly.. once again it proves what iv been saying for the last 2 yrs that british lizard are TO CHEEP.
a some of the members on here know , i put an add in our cage birds paper and old out in under 48 hours
that was £15 for an over yr...£25 for a unflighted. i did give a couple away sold a good hen that i showed to a novice for £20 and anybody who bought more that 3 pairs got a discount too

i sold 62 birds and could of sold over 100 more.. in fact iv got orders for this yr already 18 so far....lol must be cheap
