No I'm sorry Nick , whilst I have an open moind about colour variuents , I couldn't bare to see a crested Lizard. They have tried it before , a guy form the Isle of White put a crest on the Lizard and called it the Vectis ( some roman name for I.O.W. I think ) . To be honest its a horrible looking bird and the crest does absolutely nothing to enhance the appearence of the bird . So as they say on X factor " Its a no from me".

Sure we can have the debate Nick , thats what the forum is all about ---getting peoples thoughts , views and advice .

Putting a crest on a bird is a pretty easy thing to do because the crest will appear in the very first nest . One of the most prominent features of the Lizard is the Cap , I still think that a Gold Clear Cap takes some beating , the very first time someone sees a Lizard it is the cap they comment on , it is only us Lizard groupies that look at the spangle and the rowings . So if by adding a feature to a bird you detract from one of its distingquishing features that is a backward step . By changing the ground colour of a bird ( ie: Blue Lizard ) it still has one of the features that make it a Lizard , a cap , albeit white instead of yellow lipochrome . By putting a crest on a Lizard you stop it being a Lizard , because even a non cap should display the 'normal lizard feather pattern on the area devoid of light feathering ' Thats my view .

I for 1 would have to agree Paul.
I can not think of a worse looking bird than a Lizard with a crest, better to have no Lizards @ show than a crested

Not even worth having any sort of debate.

the crested Lizard or Vertic's Canary as it was called was original created by mating a Gloster Corona to a Lizard. This was done by a person from the Isle of Wight hence the name Vertic [which the old name for the Isle of Wight] I have seen these so called Lizards and they are terrible, they look like a lizard with a bad hair day. the crest is more like a tuft than a cap as in the Gloster. I have an article on them somewhere written in the 80's I will try and find it out to give you some more info. But I don't know anyone who liked them, apart from the people who bred them.
