showing lizards

Postby x5platypus on Sat Aug 15, 2009 3:58 pm

hi, this is my first year at showing lizards,is it correct that the floor of the show cage is covered with white tissue paper as with lancs? and also, can you, or is it worth while, showing birds in nest feather?
finally, are older birds shown?
cheers phil 8)

We dont use tissue paper Phil , the official line is blotting papaer but last year 'crisp' white paper was adopted . You can buy a pack cut to size from Kevin on this forum or from Dave when he's out and about with his Lizard stand . Its about a couple of quid for a hundred sheets I think.

Up to you if you show nest feather birds but you won't really learn a lot as they don't show the complete set of spangle until the moult is through.

Older birds are show in Overyear classes .

Hope this helps , Regards Paul.

I should think he will be Phil , he runs it!

I shall be there as its one of my not to be missed shows , only complaint I had about last year was you couldn't get a cup of tea much before 9 o'clock , no good for us boys that get there early to give the birds a chance. Me and John Martin were clatting for a brew !! Great show though , look forward to meeting you Phil.

You'll have to take a flask then Paul, I know it's not the same as a fresh brew but beggars can't be choosers.

PS - who do i speak to for Hoso schedule for BSOTY, is it Malcolm. Only got 2 but the might as well have an outing cause I'm there anyway.

regards

He meant Malcolm Neale , the Secretary of the HCBA , Andy.

Darren once we get the schedule it'll be sent to you , we come under the banner of the Old Variety Canary Club for BSOTY but its an open show so you don't have to join the OVCA .
